Livelihood

Golden Plain performed in Reveal International Project in 30 target villages in Mahlaing and Ayartaw townships, Mandalay Region in 2011-2013 aiming to improve the livelihoods of the rural communities by giving the livelihood trainings. Daw Khin Win Myint, woman headed, owned 5 acres of cultivated land is an outstanding beneficiary in Dahatan village, Mahlaing township. Though she is of primary education level, her income increased up to 20 lakh after attending the trainings on farming technique, bio-fertilizers and natural pesticides, post-harvest technology, small business and making energy efficient stove. As a result crop yields per acre increased in sesame, chickpea and pigeon pea by applying the techniques.

Human Rights, Democracy and Land Laws

Golden Plain conducted TOT trainings on human rights, democracy and awareness of land laws for 400 participants with FNF and 400 participants for US Embassy in each 40 villages in Dedaye and Pharpon townships in delta region during 2013. The aim of the training is to increase the knowledge on those sectors for farmers and grass root people.

In Kanyinkone village, Dedaye township, the farmers used pasture land for crop cultivation. So there was conflict between those farmers and the others who want to use as pasture. In 2012, land law No 10 was passed by Pyidaungsu assembly. According to the fallow, virgin land law article 2(F), pasture land is included in fallow, virgin land so that pasturing and cultivation are not allowed to use those lands. After the training they came to know awareness of land laws properly and  they do not use it at all. By discussing the human rights, essence and value of democracy, grass root people have regular meeting with their parliament members to express freely their wants and needs in the proper channels.

After the training, trainers can disseminate their knowledge gained to many other farmers, grass root peoples and parents of school children in those townships.
